Thatcham RFC kicked off their season in Counties 3 after relegation last season in style as a reinvigorated squad (almost 40 training last Thursday) notched a hard fought victory as we ran out 43-0 away winners at our friends Aldermaston.
In a tough 1st half we turned around at 10-0 after tries from Joe de (1 min) Jaeger and Derek Allan (25 min). Aldermaston knocked the door several times in the first half but Thatcham's defence held and thwarted the reds attacks with them being held up over the line at least once. After half-time Aldermaston used the wind well to kick long with Thatcham the having to battle back up the pitch.
On 56 minutes Max Beckley scored debut try running in under the posts after some great passing and catching by the backs 
Allan converted for 0-17 and 10 minutes later Colum Sullivan had scored a brace (56 & 67 min) with Max Farlow (73) Ollie Cunningham (76) scoring as well to put the gloss on a very much overdue win - Dec 2018 was the last time Thatcham had a plus point win (50-5 v Dorchester) - finishing 0-43.
