Grove U15s 5 Thatcham U15s 31

Thatcham went into the game confident after two successive hard fought victory’s . Last season Grove won this fixture comfortably. The sun was shinning and the scene was set .

Grove started the better winning quick ball and using their powerful runners to make big holes in thatcham defence. This led to two injuries early on to Thatcham. Grove rammed home their advantage by scoring a well worked try. Thatcham were on the ropes. Shortly afterwards Thatcham were down to 14 players due to a yellow card. Discipline was slipping under pressure.

Late in the first half Harry H. Scored a try due to power and determination in the corner. A narrowly missed conversion from Aidan E. Brought the half to an end 5-5.

The game restarted in messy fashion but thatcham began to dominate the collision area and a rolling maul from a well worked lineout drove Grove a full 22 metres to score the try. Kieron R scoring and providing the engine for the maul.
Thatcham then started to trust in their structure and physical advantage. Powerful running from Leo P. and Harry H. started to tire the Grove defence. However more disruption ensued as another yellow card saw thatcham again down to 14 and due to injury Noah M. Moving to 9 a position he has never played.
Thatcham responded brilliant with Ashley M-D scoring his first try with a quick pick & go. Thatcham unleashed a devastating play starting in their 22 Ronnie C. Running hard in midfield pulling in the defence and quick hands saw Thomas W. Cross the line. The ref disallowed the try for an apparent forward pass.

The red and blues focused their frustrations with Oliver Y. Scoring skinning the winger on the outside. Ashley M-D added to his earlier try and he squeezed over the line from close quarters. 3 conversion from Aidan E. Led to an impressive score

Thatcham showed considerable resilience in testing conditions but came out on top with a desire to win and relentless work rate
